Some of the Logi Team and I just returned from the TDWI conference in Bean Town itself, Boston, MA. (Just as an aside, ever wonder why Boston is called ‘Bean Town’? Click here to read all about it…)
We heard great feedback from attendees and, as is the norm with TDWI conferences, attended very practical, informative sessions about BI in action. As you know, most conferences seem to have a theme in the sessions themselves as well as in the questions that attendees are asking. There was a definite focus on extending BI to easily reach more users across the organization. Noticeably, many attendees also seem to be looking for ways to implement predictive analytics into their BI suites.
Typically reserved for a special set of power users, predictive analytics now also seems to be of interest to the masses. Is your organization currently thinking about or using data mining or predictive analytics techniques? How does that fit into your overall BI initiatives? Which groups require this function? What are some of your current challenges that you think predictive analytics would solve?
Please drop me a line to share your experiences--I’d be very interested to hear your real-world perspectives!
Sincerely,
Rachel Shortt
