OLAP Reporting
This archive includes topics related to OLAP analysis and reporting. Short for Online Analytical Processing, OLAP is a technology approach that enables fast analysis of shared, multi-dimensional data. Databases configured for OLAP employ a multidimensional data model. They are optimized for complex analytical and ad-hoc queries by using the concept of a 'cube,' which consists of pre-calculated data dimensions.
OLAP analysis helps business personnel interact with their organization’s data to discover critical trends and root causes. For example, this type of analysis allows users to answer questions like: what percentage of customers in just the Northwest region of the US bought computers last year and the year before that? Of that percentage, how many were under 25? Over 50?
