The auto claims divisions of the property and casualty insurance industry worldwide are very successful in collecting data. For example, the automobile databases record all the loss information, vehicle type, parts, repair costs and a host of other data elements. Similar databases exist for the home insurance sector.

As the direct repair program (DRP) business model expanded throughout the industry, participating collision repair shops and multiple shop organizations have experienced difficulty in achieving expected results of more cars through the door, improved repair cycle time and profitability. Also, there has been and continues to be a strong desire on the part of repairers to manage their work to insurance company key performance indicators (KPIs) and to be in compliance with their policies and procedures to ensure long lasting business to business relationships.

“Unfortunately, the repair industry continues to operate at a disadvantage by not having the business tools available to ensure DRP program compliance, measure performance and report results the same way their insurance partners measure them,” notes Tagliapietra.

“Some queries have as many as 1300 data elements to draw reports from. The parts estimate database application included 800-1100 data types. Logi Ad Hoc is exactly the power tool we need in this situation.”

It is well understood by collision repairers that the three estimating system providers have primarily focused their research and development resources to target the needs of the auto insurers. At the same time, they have done little to assist the collision repair industry by developing a new generation of business management tools for better information management and management reporting.

The Results
