Harmony Employs Logi 8’s Powerful Reporting Platform to Add Value to Human Services Software Solutions

About Harmony

In 1998, human services information systems expert Tonya Harmon and her team had a vision: providing the human services industry with products and consulting services specifically tailored to the sector’s unique needs. It was from this vision that Harmony Information Systems was born.

The company’s main mission is to provide Web-based software applications to human services agencies, in a way that helps these organizations manage information efficiently. Harmony, the company’s primary product, meets this goal by simplifying human services operations for a variety of functions, including child welfare, behavioral health care, juvenile justice, substance abuse services and special education.

Right from the start of their successful history, Harmony has valued a flexible approach to applications software instead of forcing a rigid business module onto the human services field. Harmony offers a product suite that benefits both the client organization and its end users. It does so by building custom applications that have the convenience, cost efficiency and ease of implementation of ready-made commercial products.

Harmony's Challenge

The growing success of the Harmony product line in the human services market created the need to add more Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities to the suite. At first, Harmony evaluated the possibility of executing this enhancement internally; however, they eventually examined the benefits of partnering with an established BI vendor to accelerate the process and profit from the vendor’s industry experience.

“The key consideration was to add powerful reporting capability without slowing down our effort to deliver even more human services functionality to our product,” notes Tonya Harmon, Harmony president and CEO. “However, it was also critical for us to find a partner that shared our core values of Web-based deployment, and that also offered depth of BI functionality.”

“LogiXML was able to meet and exceed our objectives.”

The LogiXML Solution

The partnership with LogiXML enhanced Harmony Information Systems’ reporting capabilities without distracting them from their human services solutions. “Managing human services creates a large amount of information suited for analysis,” states Harmon. “The ability to generate reports helps our customers gain additional insights into this information, which adds considerable value to our offering.”

“The breadth and depth of the Logi 8 platform supports everything from simple graphs and charts to dynamic Dashboarding and Ad Hoc reporting. These features provide us with many options for enhancing Harmony products.”

The Results

Thanks to the benefits provided by the Logi 8 platform, Harmony was able to achieve their goal of integrating BI capabilities with their existing human services solutions, much to the advantage of their customers. The partnership is now turning its eyes to the future.

“We are impressed that the business values of LogiXML and Harmony are so strongly aligned around delivering value to customers. Technically, Harmony is committed to innovation and uses standards-based and Web-based technologies to deliver a superior product—as does LogiXML,” says Harmon. “We see an opportunity to quickly enhance the value of our products to our customers as we integrate BI capabilities into our solutions. Logi 8 technology will help us reach our objectives very quickly.”
