About Dataupia
Innovative companies believe in pushing the limits of today's technology
to put valuable information to work for them. LogiXML allows such companies
to leverage that data for reporting and analysis. Dataupia has introduced
the Dataupia Satori Server to help companies ‘free’ their data.
The Dataupia Satori Server is an extremely well-engineered and easy-to-use
new class of data warehouse appliance. In simple terms, the Dataupia approach
enables business and IT to fully enjoy the benefits of detailed information.
Even more importantly, this can be done painlessly, economically and immediately.
The Challenge
Dataupia has recently looked for a BI application to work with their powerful
infrastructure solution. They needed a platform with the capability to
retrieve, present and analyze data in a robust and customer-friendly manner.
They also needed to find an application that was Web-based and that offered
versatility as to which databases it could work with.
”I first noticed LogiXML at the 2006 TDWI Conference in Orlando
and the technology made an immediate and positive impression on me,” notes
John O'Brien, Chief Technology Officer at Dataupia. “The fact that
it was Web-based, visually compelling and worked with standard databases
was of particular interest to me because Dataupia has a tremendous solution,
but it is not an application. We are the infrastructure behind the application
that allows you to tap into all of your data.”
O'Brien oversees technology direction and product strategy at Dataupia.
He specializes in large data warehouse systems architecture and strategy
with a particular emphasis on the architecture and management of the ongoing
growth and evolution of large-scale, real-time systems and processes. O’Brien
speaks from experience having built some of the largest real-time data
warehouses and decision support systems including projects at Level 3 Communications,
Sprint PCS, Southern California Edison and Bank of America.

The Solution
LogiXML and Dataupia have developed a new partnership to communicate the
value of their combined products to the marketplace. Both companies see
that the combination of an innovative Dataupia Satori Server appliance
for optimizing data management and the Web-based Logi 8 platform for delivering
reporting and analysis signals significant change in the data warehouse/BI
landscape.
”Unlocking your data allows you to better solve business problems.
And ultimately, unlocking your data lets you make decisions based on the
value of the data to your business rather than on the cost of storing the
data. You get a transparent experience across all of your databases and
applications for IT staff and users. It is an approach to leveraging data
whose time, we feel, has clearly come,” notes O’Brien.
”As the LogiXML platform leverages data for reporting and analysis,
the Dataupia Satori Server augments a company’s current data management
systems without requiring you to rip out your existing database. Our Massively
Parallel Processing (MPP) design offers a non-disruptive, continuously
scalable, and cost-effective means to expand your data retrieval capabilities,” notes
O’Brien.
The Results
”The Logi product allows us to showcase the power that is unlocked
with access to more data, so we began incorporating sample Logi applications
into some of our product demonstrations. Several of our Dataupia staff
members were familiar with the Logi products and had used them successfully
in their consulting businesses. The Web-based architecture and the ability
to access virtual databases were very appealing. When we connected again
at TDWI in Boston this past spring, the idea of forming a technology partnership
blossomed.”
”We also saw great synergy in the value proposition both companies
are offering users. We offer a data warehouse appliance at a fraction of
the cost of a standard configuration. Similarly, LogiXML offers an incredible
value in BI. For companies with big data management and BI needs, but with
practical budgets, this combination is unbeatable,” concludes O’Brien.
LogiXML Marketing VP, John Kyle adds, “We started the marketing
aspect of our partnership with a very valuable webinar, featuring BI Expert,
Claudia Imhoff, in November and look forward to developing a range of marketing
programs in the near term to leverage the value of the combination of the
Logi Platform and the Dataupia data warehouse appliance.”
