About Accellos
Accellos
is a global provider of warehouse management, third-party logistics (3PL),
logistics, transportation and mobile fleet management solutions. Their
powerful supply-chain execution solutions are easy to customize and
implement, providing their customers with more innovation for less investment
and producing significant savings and greater profitability. Their applications
include Automated Data Collection (ADC); Warehouse Management (WMS); Third
Party Logistics (3PL); Transportation Management (TMS) and Mobile Resource
Management.
The success of Accellos has been driven by the recognition that the core
of the market for supply chain execution software is in small and medium
sized companies. These are companies under half a billion in revenue, with
most generating under $150 million. This class of company requires a technologically
sound solution delivered at an affordable price and supported aggressively
by the vendor.
Accellos was formed because its principals believe that there is a better
way, one that provides more innovation for a lower investment. They offer
a comprehensive suite of supply chain execution solutions where only point
solutions existed before; and they foster a culture focused on delivering
value to its stakeholders—customers, employees and partners.
The Challenge
When Accellos looked for a business intelligence partner to extend the
value of their product, they set out to find a company that shared a similar
philosophy—providing more innovation, dynamic information delivery
and at the same time a good value to the customer. This necessarily took
the quest beyond legacy BI vendors.
“We have built a company designed to deliver the very critical information-management
needs of our customer companies. These products play a critical role in
moving materials through the economy,” says Ross Elliott, Executive
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer and one of the founders of
Accellos.
“We serve the companies that are moving materials through the supply
chain. They face very rigorous requirements from their suppliers and equally
rigorous requirements from their customer. We recognized that delivering
a software package that helps these companies succeed was a great business
to be in.”
“We are very skilled technology integrators and have melded together
the product of several technology companies to construct Accellos. However,
we are always looking for ways to add value to our customers. One way was
to deliver the detailed information—collected and managed by our
core system—in a more visually-appealing and understandable format
for our users. This is where the LogiXML reporting software came into the
picture.”
“Of course, we did our due diligence before choosing a BI partner.
Our team was familiar with the large BI firms like Business Objects, Hyperion
and Cognos, but we also knew that there were new technologies in the market
that were better architected, Web-based and easier to integrate than those
products. A search of the Web, based on our stringent criteria, soon added
LogiXML to the selection process.”
The Solution
“We liked what we saw from the start, with the range of reporting
options, dashboards and analysis tools like the Logi Analysis Grid. Our
customers benefit from these features very quickly as the Logi product
brings to life the data generated by Accellos applications.”

“However, the even greater appeal to Accellos is the way in which
the Logi Platform is architected. Like Accellos, LogiXML brings a clean,
standards-based approach to the table. This means we are able to embed
BI functionality into our products, and also maintain a BI layer distinct
from the core application. This is very important because we are committed
to expanding our product line—through internal development and possible
acquisition—to better serve our customer.”
The Results
“The Logi 8 platform is now a key element of our development strategy.
LogiXML continues to add more capability to the platform and we are immediately
able to leverage those features in our product. We see this relationship
as a long term partnership," concludes Elliott.
